Hopefully I have been part of keeping Texas residents safe from contaminated soil and groundwater and requiring cleanup from responsible parties.

I am passionate about conservation and protecting wildlife and maintaining natural resources.

What advise would you give to the current Aggies interested in entering environmental industry?

There a many aspects to environmental work (i.e., assessment, remediation, fate and transport, modeling). They are all important, but I would suggest you determine one that you are most interested in and be as knowledge able as you can on that particular subject matter. In other words strive to be an expert in something and make yourself stand out. You will be an even more asset wherever you work.

If you were entering the environmental industry today, what area would you pursue? Why?

I would work in reclamation and restoration of wildlife management areas. With development of industry and human impacts to our natural wildlife areas more and more negative impacts are destroying these resources. I would want to work with state and federal agency to incorporates policy that protects these area. There are many voices that speak up for protection of human health, but not nearly enough for those that don’t have a voice.
