Biography

Nicole Hausler is the owner and principal consultant of Summer Hill Environmental, LLC, a small environmental consulting firm that specializes in water quality and marine environmental issues. Nicole has nine years of experience in the environmental field. Prior to starting her own firm in 2012, she spent eight years at the Port of Houston Authority in the Environmental Affairs department, where she reached the position of Assistant Manager. Throughout her tenure at the Port of Houston Authority, she managed the water quality programs, and sediment management programs, assisted in the development and implementation of the ISO 14001: 2004 certified Environmental Management System, and served as the lead internal auditor for both the Environmental and Security Management Systems.

Nicole received two degrees from Texas A&M University. Her first degree, a Bachelor of Science in Political Science, was conferred in 2000. The following year, she received a Bachelor of Science in Marine Sciences. Nicole was actively involved in student academic affairs at Texas A&M University at Galveston; her extra-curricular activities included participation in the Student Senate, Student Judicial Board, Co-Chair of the freshman orientation camp (SALT Camp), and Co-Chair of the Student Committee on Inter-campus Affairs. Nicole also holds a Master of Science in Marine Policy from the University of Delaware, where her research focused on the role of technology in addressing vessel-mediated introductions of non-indigenous species.

Nicole previously served as the Scholarship Committee Chair and President of the Texas Association of Environmental Professionals. During her time on the board, she was able to establish a scholarship for Texas A&M University at Galveston. She was also named the first Young Environmental Professional of the Year in 2007 by the Texas Association of Environmental Professionals.

Nicole and her husband, Matthew (class of 1994), have a daughter, Kelsey. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, running, and visiting with old Aggie friends.
