Biography
Brian Gottschalk is a Principal Scientist with Adams Environmental, Inc. (AEI), a San Antonio-based environmental consulting firm. He joined the staff of AEI in January 2005 after holding previous professional positions as an Environmental Consultant with Regulatory Compliance Services, Inc. (RCS) in Dallas, Texas (1999-2000) and as an Environmental Scientist and Project Manager with Terracon’s Dallas and Austin, Texas offices (2000-2005). Mr. Gottschalk is an experienced environmental scientist with professional and academic interests in fluvial geomorphology, aquatic biology, riparian ecology, physical geography, river/stream restoration, environmental management, and environmental policy. Mr. Gottschalk serves as the principal consultant on numerous public and private environmental projects. His areas of expertise include field biology, terrestrial ecology, wetlands and waters of the U.S. consulting, stream and riparian corridor restoration, environmental due-diligence studies, and regulatory compliance.
Mr. Gottschalk’s background in fluvial geomorphology has allowed him to serve as the lead stream designer for the US Army Corps of Engineer Section 404 projects in Texas, Louisiana, and Ohio. In previous project experiences, he has written geomorphological characterizations for streams in the San Antonio, Texas area, and he currently serves as a consulting biologist and fluvial geomorphologist from numerous projects in the Austin-San Antonio region. He has been a guest lecturer on fluvial processes for both undergraduate and graduate classes at Texas State University San Marcos. He holds a B.S. in Bioenvironmental Sciences from Texas A&M University and a M.S. in Environmental Science from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
