Job Duties
Michele is a GHG and Carbon Subject Matter Expert at Iconic Air, a software development company building a carbon accounting solution for the oil and gas industry. Her role includes staying up to date on new regulations impacting the oil and gas industry. She works with software engineers developing a carbon accounting and reporting SAAS product (CarbonONE). She also works with customers to help them understand their carbon footprint, project their methane Waste Emission Charge (WEC) and ensure conformance with EPA’s mandatory GHG reporting requirements through expert guidance and the use of the CarbonONE solution.
Michele also focuses on creating educational materials for other subject matter experts in the oil and gas industry related to EPA’s Mandatory GHG Reporting Program, NSPS OOOOb and c, and the Waste Emission Charge.
Impacts
Customers using the CarbonONE platform gain actionable insight into their emissions profile enabling them to project the impacts of regulatory changes on the costs of the WEC in future years. Customers are able to review their data at a granular level and implement emission reduction projects or measurement campaigns that will lead to a reduction in methane emissions.

What advise would you give to the current Aggies interested in entering environmental industry?
Make sure to take advantage of internship opportunities or working in labs. Make sure you ask lots of questions and take advantage of the resources available to you.
If you were entering the environmental industry today, what area would you pursue? Why?
I would not want to change my career path, so I would pursue a position as an air quality professional. I find the field of air quality/GHG very rewarding and challenging enough that I am continuously able to learn and grow in my career.
