Congratulations to the following students who received accommodations who were recognized for their poster presentations at the inaugural Bioenvironmental (BESC) Poster Symposium on September 21, 2012:
• Corrine Rhodes was selected as the 1st place winner in the International Experience poster category. Corrine’s poster presented her experience during her Study Abroad course experience in Taiwan in the Summer of 2012. The title of her poster was “Isla Formosa”
• Jesse D. Pyle was selected as 1st place winner in the Undergraduate Research poster category. Jesse’s poster, entiled “Host responses elicited by a satellite virus-associated synergism in multiple Brachypodium distachyon accessions” described Jesse’s research that was conducted in Dr. Karen Beth Scholthof’s lab during the summer Bioenvironmental Undergraduate Research Scholar (BURS) program.
• Preston Kocian was selected as the 1st place winner in the Environmental Profession Internship poster category. Preston’s poster described his intern experience with the City of Bryan working in the Department of Information technology where he worked with GIS technology. The title of his poster was Geographic Information Systems.
• Angelyn Hilton was selected as 2nd place winner in the Undergraduate Research poster category. Angelyn’s poster was entitled “Actin dynmics in Aspergillus nidulans” described research was conducted in Dr. Brian Shaw’s lab during the summer Bioenvironmental Undergraduate Research Scholar (BURS) program.
Also pictured Ms. Patricia Larsen, (center) a Bioenvironmental Sciences senior, was selected to receive a $1,000 scholarship from the Texas Associate of Environmental Professionals (TAEP).
