Ergot Research Resistance

IDENTIFICATION OF SOURCES:

Sorghum germplasm line IS8525 is currently being tested by plant breeders in Texas and Kansas.. This line has a low severity of ergot, relative to other lines, and may be useful in plant breeding programs.

DIFFERENCES IN HYBRIDS:

Under environmental conditions highly conducive to ergot, disease can occur on grain sorghum hybrids. Tests conducted in the fall of 1998 in Weslaco, Texas have shown that there are differences in the relative severity of ergot that can occur on hybrids.
