January ’11 Newsletter
This issue explores a devastating rice disease called panicle blight and looks at PLPM researchers Dr. Shane Zhou and Dr. Young-Ki Jo who are working on new ways to fight it. It also covers Dr. Herman Scholthof’s work with plant viruses that may pave the way for us to use plants to create helpful medicine. The newsletter also takes on an international flair with stories about Dr. Daniel Ebbole’s Taiwan summer program and BESC graduate Ceceilia Oberman’s experience teaching in Thailand. The issue closes out with a list of recent BESC and PLPM graduates, pictures from the BESC information table at this past fall’s President’s Scholarship Endowment and a brief introduction to the new newsletter editor.
