The graduate student club is composed of the graduate students in the Plant Pathology department.

Each year the students elect a President, a Vice President, a Faculty Chair, an Equipment Chair, and a Social Chair. The students meet monthly for lunch and to discuss news in the department and plan social events. The Faculty Chair meets with the faculty routinely and updates the other grad students on departmental affairs. The Equipment Chair lobbies on behalf of the grad students for equipment the department should update or purchase. The Social Chair plans parties and socials for the entire department, as well as events exclusively for the students. The President and Vice President act as liaisons between the students and faculty and keep the club organized.

This year, we designed and sold t-shirts for the Plant Pathology department. In the fall we planned an
International Potluck dinner for the entire department. We’ve had socials, parties, and happy hours to celebrate accomplishments of our students.

April 2008 - Coming soon will be Robigalia, which is an annual party following the PBoFF symposium. Robigalia was an ancient Greek festival to pay homage to the gods in a plea to prevent wheat rust epidemics that year. The grad students dress up in “traditional” clothing and act out the Robigalia ceremony at the party.
