BESC Program

The L.F. Peterson Building        The Bioenvironmental Science Curriculum (BESC) at Texas A & M University is a progressive and exciting degree for all students with an interest in solving complex environmental problems.

        The degree is challenging, multi-disciplinary, relevant and flexible. The requirements to obtain a satisfying career go well beyond the classroom. The emphasis areas in the BESC program were designed from input within the environmental industry. Our students are well prepared for careers in the environmental arena.

 

Professional Internships

        Internships provide BESC students an opportunity to explore the practical aspects of their classroom experience as well as giving them an advantage when it comes time to look for employment after graduation.

        Students in the program have completed internships working on projects such as:

  • Chemical analysis of oil samples
  • Design and construction of water reclamation plants.
  • Gathering water, soil, and air samples for cases in litigation.
  • Research of biocontrol agents dealing with cotton pathology.
  • Feasibility studies for recycling.
  • Environmental consulting for U.S. Department of Defense

  • Professional Opportunities

            Public and governmental concerns about the environment contnue to expand opportuniities for enviornmentally related employment. Recent graduates have found employment in these areas:
