BESC Undergraduate Research Scholars Grant (BURS)

Request for Proposals:

The Bioenvironmental Sciences (BESC) program and the Department of Plant Pathology and Microbiology (PLPM) are pleased to announce the fourth annual Bioenvironmental Sciences Undergraduate Research Scholars (BURS) program. This program is intended to support undergraduate research in PLPM laboratories. Awards are competitive and limited and will support student pay at $10/hour; 9 hours/week for the summer session and provide a small amount of research support to the sponsoring Professor. Being named a BURS scholar will be based on review of competing proposals. Applications are to be assembled by undergraduate researchers with sponsorship from a PLPM Principal Investigator.  Eligible students are pursuing a degree in the BESC, COALS-ENST, or USAL-EB majors. Students will enroll for BESC 484W internship credit for the summer semester while conducting the research project and are required to present a poster describing their research results at the BURS/BESC Poster Symposium October 7, 2016. Students who have already completed their internship, are eligible to participate but will enroll in BESC 491 instead.  Submit completed applications as PDF to Dr. Brian D.
