Avocado - Cotton Root Rot
Cotton Root Rot (fungus - Phymatotrichopsis omnivora): Although avocado is susceptible to cotton rot root, it is not a common disease. It is characterized by a sudden wilt of the tree. The leaves turn brown and remain on the tree. Very young trees tend to become diseased, rather than old ones. The only control is to avoid planting trees in soil known to be infested with the fungus.
